Vehicle Fitment

1. Compatible Engines

  • Mack E7 Series (4-Valve Heads, Non-Dynatard / Non-Engine Brake configurations).

  • Mack E7 E-Tech Series.

  • Mack E7 ASET™ Series (ASET AI and AC engine variants without engine brake / non-J-Tech/PowerLeash models).

2. Compatible Vehicles & Models

This part fits various Mack heavy-duty trucks built throughout the 1990s and 2000s equipped with the E7 or ASET engine platforms:

  • Mack Granit (CV / GU Series) — Highway, Vocational, and Dump Trucks.

  • Mack Vision (CX Series) — Highway / Regional Haul.

  • Mack CH / CL Series — Heavy-duty Vocational and Highway models.

  • Mack MR / LE Series — Refuse trucks and specialty chassis.

The Engine Rocker Arm Shaft Assembly is a factory remanufactured valve train support unit designed for heavy-duty Mack E7 and E7 ASET™ series diesel engines.

1. What is it?

The 466GC4101MX is a critical component of the engine's overhead valve train (OHV). Mounted on the cylinder head, this precision-machined shaft acts as the stationary pivot axis for the engine's rocker arms, transferring motion from the pushrods to open and close the intake and exhaust valves at precise intervals.

2. Core Features & REMACK® Quality

  • REMACK® Factory Remanufactured ("MX" Suffix): Restored directly by Mack to original factory engineering specifications, ensuring strict dimensional tolerances and metallurgy.

  • Internal Lubrication Galleries: Features precision-drilled oil passages that route pressurized engine oil through the shaft to continuously lubricate rocker arm bushings and reduce friction.

  • Non-Engine Brake Application: Specifically configured for engines without auxiliary engine brakes (such as PowerLeash™ or J-Tech™ systems).

Signs of Faulty

1. Loud Valvetrain Ticking or Clattering Noises

Excessive wear on the shaft surface or inside the rocker arm bushings creates extra mechanical clearance (slap). This results in a distinct, rhythmic metallic clicking, ticking, or heavy chattering noise from under the valve cover that accelerates with engine RPM.

2. Engine Misfires & Rough Idle (Poor Valve Lift)

If the rocker shaft scores, galling occurs, or the shaft cracks, the rocker arms will bind or fail to pivot smoothly. This prevents the intake or exhaust valves from opening fully, causing power loss, engine misfires, rough idling, and hesitation under load.

3. Low Upper-Engine Oil Pressure

The rocker shaft features internal precision galleries that feed pressurized oil to the rocker arms and pushrod ends. Excessive clearance from a worn shaft allows oil to bypass the bushings and bleed off freely, causing a drop in oil pressure at the top end of the engine.

4. Accelerated Valve Stem & Pushrod Wear

When the shaft loses its precision alignment or proper oiling, increased friction causes uneven wear on the pushrod cups, adjusting screws, and valve tips. Left unchecked, this can bend pushrods or destroy valve stems.

5. Metal Shavings in Oil / Clogged Oil Filters

Galling between the hardened steel shaft and the rocker bushings releases fine bronze or steel particles into the engine oil system, which can be found in the oil pan or embedded in the oil filter media.
