• Engine Platform: Cummins B6.7 (successor to the ISB 6.7).

• Emissions Standards: Primarily designed for EPA17, EPA21, and EPA24 regulations.

• Primary Vehicle Applications:

• The DPF Core: A cylindrical stainless steel unit containing a ceramic honeycomb (usually Cordierite or Silicon Carbide). It is designed to trap 99% of the soot from the B6.7 engine.

• New Gaskets: High-temperature gaskets are included because the old ones are typically crushed or brittle and cannot be reused without causing exhaust leaks.

• Mounting Clamps: Heavy-duty V-band clamps are provided to securely lock the DPF to the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and the rest of the exhaust piping.

• Installation Instructions: Specific torque specs for the clamps to ensure the sensors and seals function properly.

Why is it sold as a Kit?

For the B6.7 engine, which is common in school buses and delivery trucks, the DPF is a high-maintenance item. Buying the kit ensures that the technician doesn't have to wait for separate small parts (like a missing gasket) to finish the repair. It also ensures that the warranty remains valid, as many manufacturers require new hardware for a valid installation.

• Rapid Soot Accumulation: If the "DPF Full" light triggers shortly after a manual regeneration, the filter is likely ash-loaded. Since ash cannot be burned off, the available space for soot is reduced, causing the filter to fill up almost instantly.

• Exhaust Leaks at the Clamps: Since the kit includes new V-band clamps, a common sign of a "faulty" installation or a warped housing is a soot trail around the flange. If you see black streaks near the clamps, the filter is not sealing correctly.

• Engine Derate (Reduced Power): The ECM monitors the pressure drop across the B6.7 DPF. If the filter is too restricted, the engine will limit torque to prevent high exhaust temperatures from damaging the engine valves or turbocharger.

• Soot on the Outlet Face: If you remove the DPF and see black soot on the "clean side" (the side facing the tailpipe), the ceramic core is cracked. A failed DPF allows raw soot to pass through, which often leads to a "clogged SCR" fault downstream.

• Regeneration Failure (Code 1922): This code specifically points to a high soot load that the system can no longer clean on its own.
