1. Compatible Engine Families This component is designed to integrate into Cummins and Cummins Onan medium-duty engines and high-capacity power generation systems. It is primarily used on:
2. Common Applications & Vehicle Types Because this flexible hose is built to survive high-vibration commercial environments, it is utilized across various equipment configurations:
The Onan Flexible Hose is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) nonmetallic fluid transfer line specifically engineered to carry oil or fuel inside industrial engine layouts.
1. What is it? This part is a specialized high-durability rubber or synthetic blend Fuel/Oil Tube Hose. It features a flexible, reinforced multi-layer construction that allows it to safely carry volatile automotive fluids without cracking, kink-collapse, or chemical degradation over time. 2. Signs of Faulty
1. External Fluid Wetness or Visible Leaks The most immediate sign is wetness or active dripping along the body of the hose or at its connection fittings. If used as an oil supply line, you will notice dark residue; if used as a fuel loop, you will see a damp sheen accompanied by a strong diesel odor. 2. Surface Cracking, Dry Rot, or Brittleness Over time, constant thermal cycles dry out the rubber compound. During a physical inspection, if you bend the hose slightly and see microscopic "alligator" cracks, or if the material feels rock-hard and brittle rather than pliable, the structural integrity is compromised and it is on the verge of bursting. 3. Bulging, Swelling, or Blistering If the inner lining fails, fluid under pressure can bypass the reinforcement layers and push outward against the outer rubber jacket. This creates an uncharacteristic "pouch," bulge, or blister. A swollen hose is a ticking time bomb that can rupture at any moment. 4. Fuel System Air Intrusion (If used as a Fuel Line) If the hose develops a pinhole leak or loses its airtight seal at the crimps, it may not leak fluid outward when the engine is off, but it will suck air inward while the engine runs. This introduces air bubbles into the high-pressure fuel system, causing engine stuttering, rough idle, or hard starting. 5. Low Fluid Pressure Alerts A severely leaking or collapsed flexible hose can restrict the required volume of fluid reaching its destination. This can trip low fuel pressure warnings or engine oil pressure drops on the generator/vehicle control panel. |
