1. Low Voltage Warnings or Dead Batteries

The most immediate sign is a low voltage reading on your dashboard voltmeter (dropping below 13.5–14.2 Volts while the engine is running). If the alternator cannot produce enough amperage to maintain the electrical system, the truck will rely entirely on the batteries, eventually leading to dead batteries and an inability to start the engine.

2. Dim or Flickering Headlights and Dash Lights

When the alternator's internal voltage regulator or rectifier diodes begin to fail, the output voltage becomes unstable.
