The ABS Pressure Modulator Valve 15904563 controls the hydraulic pressure sent to each wheel’s brake during hard or emergency braking.

  1. Monitors Wheel Speed

    • Wheel speed sensors send data to the ABS control module (EBCM).

    • If one wheel starts to decelerate too quickly (about to lock up), the EBCM reacts instantly.

  2. Adjusts Brake Pressure Hydraulically

    • The pressure modulator valve opens and closes tiny solenoid valves inside the hydraulic circuit.

    • It can:

      • Reduce pressure (release braking force on a locking wheel)

      • Hold pressure (keep braking stable)

      • Increase pressure (restore braking after traction is regained)

  3. Prevents Wheel Lock-Up

    • By pulsing brake pressure many times per second, the ABS keeps all wheels rotating and gripping the road.

    • This prevents skidding and lets the driver steer while braking.

  4. Restores Hydraulic Pressure

    • A pump motor inside the modulator re-pressurizes fluid after each release cycle, keeping the system ready for the next pulse.
