1) Protects wiring from burning

High-current wires (like those from the battery or alternator) can overheat fast during a short circuit.
A fusible link is designed to fail safely before the main wiring overheats, preventing insulation melt or fire.

2) Prevents major component damage

Without this protection, a surge could destroy expensive parts like:

• alternator
• ECU (engine computer)
• main fuse box

The fusible link sacrifices itself to protect everything downstream.

3) Handles high current better than standard fuses

Regular blade fuses aren’t ideal for very high current circuits. Fusible links:
