A fuel injector is a component in a fuel-injected engine that delivers a precise amount of fuel into the engine at the right time. Its job is to help create the correct air-fuel mixture for efficient combustion.

  • Precisely meter fuel to match the engine's operating conditions.
  • Atomize the fuel into a fine mist so it mixes well with air, improving combustion.
  • Improve fuel economy by supplying only the fuel the engine needs.
  • Increase engine performance by providing consistent, accurate fuel delivery.
  • Reduce emissions through more complete combustion.
  • Improve starting and drivability, especially in cold weather and during acceleration.

Signs of Faulty:

  • Rough idle: The engine shakes or runs unevenly while idling.
  • Engine misfires: One or more cylinders don't fire properly, causing jerking or stumbling.
  • Poor acceleration: The vehicle hesitates or lacks power when you press the accelerator.
  • Reduced fuel economy: A leaking or stuck injector can cause the engine to use more fuel than normal.
  • Hard starting: The engine may crank longer than usual or be difficult to start.
  • Check Engine light: The engine control module may detect injector or combustion problems and illuminate the warning light.
  • Fuel smell: A leaking injector or damaged seal can allow fuel to escape, producing a noticeable gasoline or diesel odor.
  • Black exhaust smoke: An injector stuck open can supply too much fuel, resulting in rich combustion and black smoke from the exhaust.
  • Engine knocking or pinging: If an injector isn't delivering enough fuel, the air-fuel mixture may become too lean, causing abnormal combustion.
  • Poor emissions or failed emissions test: Faulty injectors can increase exhaust emissions.

Manufacturer information

The Mopar Part Corporation is one of the largest customer care and repair service companies in the world. Why? Because it's the official parts, service, and customer care division of Fiat Chrysler, one of the largest manufactures of automobiles in the world.
Since Mopar is tied so tightly together with Fiat Chrysler, the brand can easily make use of Chrysler's long-standing reputation when it comes to the manufacturing of high-quality pieces, parts, and hardware for automobiles, heavy-duty trucks, and just about everything in between. That being said, Mopar doesn't need to lean on Chrysler for its own success.
The Mopar brand is trusted by hundreds of thousands of truckers, repairpeople, and technicians the world over — and for good reason. The brand is just as versatile as you can expect from Chrysler and also makes countless essential original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products for Chrysler's many brands.
