  • Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 (3.6L V6 PHEV)

The Electric Coolant Heater is a high-voltage electronic heating module designed for Stellantis Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs).

1. What is it?

Part is an electric positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater unit housed in a heavy-duty cast aluminum assembly. It is integrated into the vehicle's secondary cooling circuit to generate rapid thermal energy directly from the high-voltage traction battery rather than relying on waste heat from a running internal combustion engine (ICE).

2. Core Functions & Features

  • High-Voltage Cabin Heating: Heats coolant to provide warmth through the HVAC system when driving in 100% Electric Vehicle (EV) mode or during Auto Stop.

  • Battery Thermal Management: Circulates warm coolant through the high-voltage battery loop to keep cells within optimal operating temperature windows in cold weather, preserving driving range and battery life.

  • Dual-Voltage Connections: Features a distinct high-voltage (HV) connector (orange) for power draw alongside a low-voltage (LV) control connector for ECU communication via CAN bus.

Signs of Faulty

1. Loss of Cabin Heat in Electric Mode (EV / Hybrid Mode)

  • Symptom: Cold air blows from the HVAC vents when driving in 100% Electric (EV) mode, but warm air returns only after the gas engine (ICE) turns on and warms up.

  • Cause: The internal PTC heating element or HV internal circuitry inside the unit has failed, preventing it from heating the coolant without engine waste heat.

2. Check Engine Light (CEL) & Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

  • Symptom: Amber Check Engine Light illuminates, accompanied by EV mode restrictions on the instrument cluster.

  • Common Diagnostic Codes:

    • P0C36 / P0C37 (Hybrid/EV Battery Coolant Heater Control Circuit Performance)

    • P2E12 / P2E13 (Coolant Heater Control Circuit / Performance)

    • P0A80 / P0A7F (Hybrid Battery Pack Deterioration / Cell Temp Deviations during cold starts)

    • P0C2A (Auxiliary Coolant Control Circuit Issue)

3. Forced Gas Engine Operation ("Electric Mode Unavailable")

  • Symptom: The driver display shows "Electric Mode Unavailable / Cabin Cooling or Heating" or forces the engine into FORM (Fuel/Oil Refresh Mode) or standard Hybrid mode even with a fully charged battery.

  • Cause: The Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) forces the gas engine to start so engine heat can warm the cabin and condition the cold traction battery.

4. Reduced Electric Range in Cold Weather

  • Symptom: Significant loss of battery range during winter conditions.

  • Cause: Without a functional battery coolant heater, cold lithium-ion cells suffer higher internal resistance and cannot perform efficiently.

Manufacturer information
The Mopar Part Corporation is one of the largest customer care and repair service companies in the world. Why? Because it's the official parts, service, and customer care division of Fiat Chrysler, one of the largest manufactures of automobiles in the world.
Since Mopar is tied so tightly together with Fiat Chrysler, the brand can easily make use of Chrysler's long-standing reputation when it comes to the manufacturing of high-quality pieces, parts, and hardware for automobiles, heavy-duty trucks, and just about everything in between. That being said, Mopar doesn't need to lean on Chrysler for its own success.
The Mopar brand is trusted by hundreds of thousands of truckers, repairpeople, and technicians the world over — and for good reason. The brand is just as versatile as you can expect from Chrysler and also makes countless essential original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products for Chrysler's many brands.

Warranty
First Truck Parts offers a 365-days warranty for all types of parts and in any condition. The warranty applies only to buyers who have placed an order on our website.
