An ABS Anti-Lock Brake Control Module DT43-2C219-EB - often just called the ABS module or ABS controller - is a key part of a vehicle’s braking system that helps prevent the wheels from locking up during hard braking. The ABS control module is the computerized heart of your anti-lock braking system, keeping your vehicle stable and steerable during hard or slippery braking situations.

  • Prevents Wheel Lock-Up

    • When a wheel locks, it stops rotating and skids across the road surface, reducing traction.

    • The ABS module continuously monitors wheel speed and modulates brake pressure to keep the wheels rotating just enough to maintain grip.

  • Maintains Steering Control

    • By preventing wheel lock, the ABS system allows the driver to steer around obstacles even under heavy braking, rather than sliding uncontrollably.

  • Reduces Stopping Distance (on most surfaces)

    • The system applies and releases brake pressure rapidly—many times per second—to achieve the shortest possible safe stopping distance without losing traction.

  • Improves Vehicle Stability

    • ABS helps keep the vehicle stable and balanced during emergency stops or when braking on uneven or mixed-friction surfaces (like wet and dry patches).

  • Enhances Driver Confidence and Safety

    • By automatically managing brake pressure and preventing skidding, ABS increases safety in critical driving conditions and reduces the likelihood of accidents.

Signs of Faulty DT43-2C219-EB

1. ABS Warning Light On

  • The most common and obvious sign.

  • When the module detects a fault, it triggers the ABS light (and sometimes the brake or traction control lights) on the dashboard.

  • The system may disable itself, reverting the vehicle to standard braking only.

2. Brakes Lock Up During Hard Braking

  • If the ABS module fails, the system can’t regulate brake pressure.

  • You might notice wheel lock-up or skidding when braking hard — especially on wet or icy roads.

3. Unresponsive or Hard Brake Pedal

  • A bad ABS module or pump motor can cause inconsistent brake pressure.

  • The pedal may feel hard, spongy, or unresponsive when pressed.

4. Pulsating or Inconsistent Brake Pedal

  • Normally, a slight pulsation means the ABS is working correctly.

  • However, constant or erratic pulsing, even in normal conditions, can indicate a failing module or sensor communication problem.

5. Speedometer or Traction Control Issues

  • Some ABS systems share wheel speed sensors with the speedometer and traction control system.

  • A malfunctioning module may cause incorrect speed readings or disable traction/stability control features.

6. Increased Stopping Distance or Poor Brake Performance

  • The ABS might not activate when it should, causing longer stops or loss of steering control under heavy braking.

7. Communication or Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

  • Mechanics may find stored error codes like C0265, C0110, or U0121 — indicating electrical or communication faults in the ABS module.

Manufacturer information
If you've ever so much as seen a vehicle in your life, chances are you've heard of the Ford Motor Company (Ford, for short).
There are few brands that have been as successful as Ford, rising in the early 1900s and coming into its own during the golden days of automotive design. Today, Ford is still considered one of the Big Three in the U.S, right alongside General Motors (GM) and Fiat Chrysler (Chrysler).

Warranty
First Truck Parts offers a 365-days warranty for all types of parts and in any condition. The warranty applies only to buyers who have placed an order on our website.
