Description: PowerStroke 6.7L Turbocharger Kit For F350, F450, F550 2017-2019
Condition: New
Brand: Ford®

Vehicle Fitment

1. Primary Engine Compatibility

This kit is built strictly for the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine. It features the upgraded second-generation (or revised third-generation, depending on the model year transition) single-sequential turbocharger setup, which replaced the problematic early dual-compressor "SST" design used in 2011–2014 models.

2. Compatible Vehicles

This turbocharger kit is a direct fit for Ford's heavy-duty F-Series trucks. It is most commonly mapped to the following models:

  • Ford F-250 Super Duty (Model Years: 2017–2019)

  • Ford F-350 Super Duty (Model Years: 2017–2019)

  • Ford F-450 Super Duty (Model Years: 2017–2019)

  • Ford F-550 Super Duty (Model Years: 2017–2019)

3. Kit Contents

As a "Kit" (6K682), this package is designed to provide technicians with more than just the turbocharger unit itself. It typically includes the required installation hardware to prevent oil leaks and ensure a proper seal:

  • The complete turbocharger assembly (with integrated actuator).

  • Gaskets (pedestal gasket, oil inlet/drain gaskets).

  • Mounting bolts and necessary O-rings.

The Turbocharger Kit is a complete, factory-original replacement assembly designed to restore maximum boost, power, and efficiency to Ford's 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel engine.

1. What is it?

The HC4Z-6K682-C is a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) kit. Unlike traditional fixed-geometry turbos, a VGT uses internally moving vanes surrounding the turbine wheel. These vanes change their angle depending on engine load, mimicking a small turbo at low RPMs (for fast response and no turbo lag) and a large turbo at high RPMs (for maximum top-end power).

2. Core Components & Kit Design

Because this part is designated as a kit, Ford packages it with crucial, one-time-use installation components to ensure a professional, leak-free repair:

  • The Turbocharger Unit: The main mechanical body containing the precision compressor and turbine wheels.

  • Electronic Actuator: Pre-installed and calibrated on the turbo, it electronically commands the internal vanes to adjust boost pressure on the fly based on ECU commands.

  • Installation Hardware: Includes high-temperature mounting gaskets, pedestal seals, oil feed/drain O-rings, and cooling line gaskets.

3. Key Advantages of the OEM Kit

  • No Coding issues: The electronic actuator is pre-aligned at the Ford factory.

  • Improved Durability: Features upgraded internal bearings and materials designed to withstand the immense exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) generated during heavy towing.

Signs of Faulty

1. Extreme Loss of Power and Acceleration (No Boost)

If the internal VGT vanes get stuck or the electronic actuator fails, the turbo cannot adjust to the engine’s operating conditions. This results in a massive drop in boost pressure. Your truck will feel sluggish, struggle to climb hills, or fail to pull loads, and you may hear a prominent "hissing" sound indicating a boost leak.

2. Blue or Grey Exhaust Smoke (Blown Turbo Seals)

The turbocharger relies on engine oil for cooling and lubrication. If the internal shaft bearings wear out, the oil seals will degrade, allowing pressurized engine oil to leak into the compressor housing or the exhaust downpipe. This oil burns off, producing thick blue or grey smoke from the exhaust tailpipe, especially during acceleration or at idle.

3. Loud Screeching, Whining, or "Police Siren" Noises

While a healthy turbo has a subtle whistle, a failing turbo makes distinct, abnormal noises. A damaged compressor wheel or worn bearings will produce a loud, high-pitched screeching or a howling sound that mimics a police siren. This indicates that the internal turbine wheel is off-balance or physically contacting the turbo housing.

4. "Check Engine" Light with VGT Actuator Fault Codes

Because the actuator is electronically monitored by the truck's ECU, internal electrical failures will trigger diagnostic codes immediately. Common OBD-II trouble codes include:

  • P00AF (Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control "A" Module Performance)

  • P2563 (Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance)

5. High Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) & Black Smoke

When a turbocharger cannot deliver enough air to the combustion chamber, the engine runs "rich" (too much fuel, not enough air). This incomplete combustion causes black smoke to pour from the exhaust and drives Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) dangerously high, which can quickly ruin the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) system.

Manufacturer information
The Ford Motor Company launched this auto parts division in 1972 to provide replacement parts and original equipment parts. This brand replaced Autolite as Ford's official parts brand. Autolite is still a brand name in use today, but is currently owned by FRAM. Motorcraft was originally launched in the 1950s with very little success, and was discontinued when Ford purchased the Autolite trade name. Ford was forced to sell Autolite by the Federal Trade Commission.

Warranty
